The General Data Protection Regulation takes legal effect in May 2018. For the first time Data Processors are firmly brought within the legal data protection obligations. The regulation also provides for Extra-Territorial effect which will require non-EU based controllers or processors to appoint a Union representative if they control or process personal data as part of services provided within the EU.
This half day course will explore the Regulation looking at the Additional Rights that will apply to Data Subjects, Additional Obligations on Data Controllers AND Data Processors and the NEW Enforcement Powers of the Data Protection Commissioner.

- Right to Object to automated processing
How to meet additional Data Controller and Data Processor obligations like:
- Greater information to the Data Subject at the point of data collection

- Privacy by Design and Default (Privacy Impact Assessments)
- Maintaining Records and documenting consent
