AML in Practice: Implementation of Current Legislation and Guidance
From an Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing point of view, the year 201 has been a busy one. Similar to 2012, which saw the publication of new legislation (enacted as the Criminal Justice Act 2013, Guidance Notes, the now infamous 'Dear CEO' letter and settlement agreements with the Central Bank, 2015 has seen a number of important publications.
Following thematic inspections across 2013 and 2014 we saw the publication of findings in reports on AML, CFT and FS in Banks and in Credit Unions. A further report will be made available for the Funds industry. We saw the larget fine for AML breaches imposed in the first AML breaches imposed in the first AML settlement agreement since 2013 and the 4th EU AMl Directive was published in May for transposition into National Law by June 2017.
This 2 hour briefing is intended to give practical guidance on how to implement current Irish AML requirements. It aims to bridge the gap between knowing what is necessary under the legislation/guidance and how to actually implement/embed these requirements into your business in a way that does not hinder the day to day running of it.
How to design and create a robust risk assessment, outlining practical steps on what should and should not be contained in it
Preparing a gap analysis of your policies and procedures with the current legislation
How to document and identify suspicious transactions and activities and the correct procedures for reporting them, including relevant examples and typologies
Constructing a CDD framework for your institution and future-proofing new ways of harvesting documentation
Practical applications on how to manage reputational risk
